Back Problems

Many people have complained to me about how when the go to links on one of my pages and they hit the back button in their browser, it takes them all the way back to the previous site they had visited. I have Netscape Navigator 3.0 on this computer and it works properly. When the back button is clicked, it only moves back in what has most recently changed, i.e. a frame window. Obviously, I am not the only site on the World Wide Web that uses frames. Here are a few suggestions to fix the back problem:

  1. Upgrade to a newer version of Netscape (i.e. 3.0) or your preferred browser.
  2. In older versions of Netscape Navigator, you can RIGHT CLICK & HOLD your mouse on the background in the frame you want to move back in. A menu will then pop-up. Release the mouse cursor when BACK IN FRAME is selected. If you are a Mac user, you only have one button to choose from. It should still function properly.
  3. Look for some sort of setting in the browser. (I have no idea if this even exists.)
Also, the reason why I use frames is so that you don't have to use the back button when cruising between my pages. All the links are available in the left frame, including a link to the main links and the main page.

Mail me if you know of any other suggestions/problems or if you have the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mosaic browser and would like to tell me how they handle frames.
